Jagjaguwar will officially release For Emma, Forever Ago, as its already gotten some big nods in many year end lists. Unfortunately it didn't make on our list this year, but since its being released again, it could make it on ours for 2008.
I was listening to NPR this morning, and heard this interview with Jack White about their current collaboration with their good friend Beck.
Their latest release is inspired by a pop song from the '50s. "Conquest" is the A-side on three new vinyl singles from The White Stripes. The B-sides are new songs. Read the article ovah here. YouTube: The White Stripes- "Conquest"
So its time to begin our fun little list of the best albums this year (so far). Been so busy, that I haven't able to create a nifty header for this list, hopefully I'll have one as we crack the top 5...but for now.
And as usual, I always throw in this statement that this list is flawed in the sense that I'll probably discover a good plenty of contenders that deserved to be on the list, that haven't been discovered yet. But for now, this is what it is. And this list will be more about less text...cuz I'm a firm believer in less is more.
This one is always tough to compile since we always miss a song along the way that we really wanted to include, but for some strange forgot. But here we go with this year's best- at least from what we're able to hear.
According to Wikipedia, the album art cover serves three main purposes:
* To protect the record, whose grooved surface was delicate. * To advertise the contents, as the record had little room on its own record label. * To convey the artistic aspirations of the original artists
So not much has changed, from the previous- Half List I had, but worthy of reposting.
Today marks the start of a series of lists here at ADD. Some have expressed their disdain for lists, as there are so many out there, but here at ADD, we love lists. And just like last year, we kicked off the series of lists with the Best Vids I've seen so far. The key words here are, I've seen so far, since there are so many vids I'm sure I've neglected. This year, the list includes a couple of vids made in an unconventional manner. Thus redefining the way vids are made and shared-- so you won't be hearing the words "I want my MTV", anytime soon.
As we have the monkeys working on compiling the year end lists, this week's entries will be pretty random and short...we'll start the list of this year's Best Albums So Far List real soon...maybe even this week.
