re: 1994

Today being Tuesday, we continue the "re:" series...
For some this may come as old news, but recently NME conducted a survey among its fans to compile a list of the best albums of all time. The result was a stunner, as Oasis, "Definitely Maybe" (1994) took the number one position. Thus placing the legendary pop group The Beatles album "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" at the number 2 position.

I'm sure there'll be debates on the validity of this being the 'best album of all time'.
But lets give them a little bit of credit shall we?
Oasis set themselves apart from the Madchester movement of the early 90s, by presenting themselves as a straight forward rock'n roll band. Later, Oasis, Blur and The Verve created what has been now labeled as Britpop. The album "Definitely Maybe" paved the way for what we now call Britpop and for a debut album, it ain't really that bad.
